'What is it exactly that the VP does every day?'
Not a good quote to have floating around when you're suddenly the Republican VP pick:

Responses I've read today:

McCain has met her twice. Twice. (okay, three times, including today!)

From feministing: "Republicans are more open to a certain type of woman -- one who is strongly against things like equal pay, universal health care, and reproductive freedom. In other words, the party is pro-woman-candidates, as long as they enact anti-woman policies."

"Taking Republican faux-feminism to a whole new level"

More on Palin's record.

Some of Palin's credentials:
Palin was mayor of Wasilla, AK, a town of just over 5,000 people that currently employs just over 100 individuals and — contrary to Rove’s claim — [Wasilla] didn’t even make it into the 10 largest cities in AK while she was mayor.
About that mayoral performance --
Palin, who portrays herself as a fiscal conservative, racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt as mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla — that amounts to $3,000 per resident. She argues that the debt was needed to fund improvements.

Is it a problem that she is "pleased with Obama's energy plan"? [funny, that story has suddenly disappeared from the main page -- that link is a google cache]

Andrew Sullivan:
Now compare McCain's pick with Obama's: a man with solid foreign policy experience, six terms in Washington and real relationships with leaders across the globe.

One pick is by a man of judgment; the other is by a man of vanity.

She may be a fine person, but she's my age, she has zero Washington experience, and no foreign policy expertise whatsoever.

McCain has just told us how seriously he takes the war we are in. Not seriously at all.

the grrrl in question:
I'm an ex-pat American in the midst of the frozen Canadian prairies. I'm happily married to a daydreamer. I'm officially a thirtysomething.

I'm also a mama to Emma, an ENFP, and am a happily outspoken godless liberal (who loves to discuss religion).
